Privacy Policy

Ishana ("Ishana", "we", "our", or "us") is a property-direction analysis application operated by Nithya Srinivasan, Fremont, California. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information about you when you use the Ishana mobile application and website at ishana.app (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

• Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name and email address (via Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In). We do not store your Google or Apple password.
• Property addresses: Addresses you enter for analysis are stored to provide the Service and improve our directional analysis accuracy.
• Floor plan images: If you upload a floor plan image for analysis, the image is transmitted to our AI processing pipeline and a reference is stored in your account.
• Directional corrections: If you manually correct an automatically computed entrance direction, we record the correction to improve our models.
• Support communications: If you contact us at contactus@ishana.app, we retain your messages to respond to your inquiry.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Location data: With your permission, we access your device's approximate location to center the map on your area. We do not continuously track your location. You may deny location permission and manually enter addresses instead.
• Device information: We collect device type, operating system version, and app version to diagnose technical issues.
• Usage data: We collect information about which features you use, how long you spend in the app, and error logs. This data is aggregated and used to improve the Service.
• Subscription status: We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. RevenueCat may collect device identifiers and purchase history in accordance with their privacy policy.

1.3 Community Directional Cache

Ishana maintains a shared "Community Directional Cache" — a database of entrance directions for residential properties in the United States. When you submit a directional correction for a property, your correction is stored anonymously (without your name or email) and may be used to provide directional information to other users querying the same property address.

Contributions to the Community Directional Cache are anonymous. We do not associate your name, email, or account with specific property correction data that is shared with other users.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the Service: analyzing property addresses, computing Vastu directional scores, displaying results, and enabling saved analyses.
• To improve accuracy: directional corrections you submit are used to retrain and improve our AI directional analysis models. This is described in our patent application as "reinforcement learning from human corrections."
• To communicate with you: we send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset) and, with your consent, product updates and beta announcements.
• To process subscriptions: verifying premium subscription status and enabling premium features.
• To comply with law: responding to lawful requests from government authorities, preventing fraud, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
• To operate the Community Directional Cache: anonymized directional contributions are aggregated and used to improve direction accuracy for all users.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

3.1 Service Providers

We share information with third-party vendors who help us operate the Service:

• Supabase (database and authentication infrastructure)
• Anthropic (AI analysis via Claude API)
• Mapbox (mapping and satellite imagery)
• RevenueCat (subscription management)
• Google (Google Sign-In authentication)
• Apple (Apple Sign-In authentication)

These providers are bound by contractual obligations to protect your information and may not use it for their own marketing purposes.

3.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Ishana, our users, or the public.

3.3 Business Transfers

If Ishana is acquired, merged, or undergoes a change of ownership, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or prominent notice in the app before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account information and saved analyses for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the Profile tab, which will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Anonymized directional correction data contributed to the Community Directional Cache may be retained indefinitely as it is not linked to your identity.

Floor plan images you upload are retained for 90 days after upload and then deleted from our storage, unless you explicitly save the analysis associated with them.

5. Your Privacy Rights

5.1 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act:

• Right to Know: You may request a list of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
• Right to Delete: You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
• Right to Correct: You may request correction of inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
• Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
• Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes beyond those necessary to provide the Service.
• Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.

5.2 All Users

• Access and portability: You may request a copy of your personal data in a portable format.
• Correction: You may update your account information at any time from the Profile tab.
• Deletion: You may delete your account from the Profile tab or by emailing contactus@ishana.app.
• Opt-out of marketing: You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.

6. Data Security

We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS 1.3), encryption at rest for all database storage (Supabase), and access controls limiting who can access personal data. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

If we discover a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, to the extent required by applicable law.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, please contact us at contactus@ishana.app.

8. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites (such as real estate listings on Zillow, Redfin, or Realtor.com) or display content from third-party services (such as Mapbox satellite imagery). These third parties have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing them any information.

9. International Users

The Service is operated in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the new policy in the app and sending an email to your registered address at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
